What should we know about our wood delivery?

There are a few important things that you MUST be aware of, when accepting a wood floor delivery.

1. We want to make sure most or all of the wet trades (drywall, plaster, paint, concrete etc..) are done with their work before the wood delivery, as that will add a lot of unnecessary moisture in the air, that the wood flooring could potentially absorb.

2. The wood has to be stored INSIDE the house (not in the basement or the garage, unless we are installing in the basement), ideally close to the area we will be installing.

3. The house must be regulated by an HVAC system, for at least 2 days, that is set between 60-80 degrees, with a relative humidity (ideally) between 30%-50%. This will be harder to achieve in older homes without a AprilAire or similar systems, that regulate the relative humidity in the home.

4. It is ideal (but not necessary) to “nest” the bundles so they acclimate properly and receive proper air circulation. This means that we want to set the bundles down on the ground about 4” from each other all in a line. The next row should sit on top, perpendicular to the other bundles, leaving the same amount of space. When in doubt, if you tell your delivery person to nest the bundles, they should know what you mean.
